Who We Are
M.V.R. Medical Centre, established in March 2012, is dedicated to providing quality and affordable healthcare to people in and around Puducherry. We got ISO Certification in 2014 and we were awarded NABH entry level accreditation in 2022. We offer a wide array of cutting-edge services. From essential complication screening tests like fundus photography and doppler studies to advanced diagnostics such as CGMS and ABPM, our state-of-the-art laboratory ensures thorough health assessments.
With a dedicated focus on education and prevention, our expert team provides extensive support for screening and early detection of lifestyle disorders and various illnesses. Our holistic approach extends to diabetic foot complications, which are treated by a multidisciplinary team comprising general surgeons, vascular surgeons, orthopaedic surgeons, plastic surgeons, and physiotherapists.
Additionally, our established ICU, equipped with ventilators and centralized oxygen supply, is supported by a diverse team of intensivists, cardiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, gastroenterologists, pulmonologists, and oncologists. Amid the COVID epidemic, we diligently supported the government by operating a dedicated COVID care unit.
Our surgical capabilities are robust, boasting two major operation theaters, a minor operation theater, state-of-the-art C-arm, and skilled surgeons and technicians ensuring meticulous procedures and excellent post-operative care. With a focus on expanding our super-speciality services, we perform ENT and ophthalmology procedures led by specialist practitioners. We also offer online consultations to people residing in other states of India and abroad.
About Founder
Dr. M.R. Vidhya, Chief Physician & Diabetologist, is the founder director of the Centre. She is well-experienced in the field of Diabetology and has been practising for over two decades. A state topper in Tamil Nadu Board exams, she completed her under graduation (M.B.B.S) in Madurai Medical College. She completed her post-graduation (D.N.B) in Internal Medicine from Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, where she was in charge of various academic activities. She was the editor of the medical bulletin for a few years.
Dr. Vidhya received advanced training in Diabetology from Prof. Dr. Seshiah, gaining rich experience in treating diabetes-related and other medical emergencies.
Dr. M.R. Vidhya has undergone training courses conducted by the Research Society for the Study of Diabetes in India (RSSDI), Steno Diabetes Centre, and World Health Organization. Her articles have been published in many well-known medical journals, including the Journal of the Association of Physicians of India. She has co-authored articles for the API Textbook of Medicine. She has also been the principal investigator in several nation-wide studies on insulin therapies and OHA drugs.
Pioneer in Diabetes Education and Advocacy
With the number of diabetic patients growing, Dr. Vidhya felt the need for a comprehensive diabetic care centre. She established M.V.R. Medical Centre, named in remembrance of her father Dr. M. V. Rajagopalan, with a vision to provide excellent medical care to the people of Puducherry and nearby districts.
Her firm belief in the adage ‘Prevention is better than cure’ is signified in the Centre’s motto. Dr. Vidhya provides dedicated diabetes education services and dietary counselling. She has been a guest speaker in medical colleges, schools, and forums in and around Puducherry. Dr. Vidhya has released a DVD in Tamil as well as writes articles to educate the people about diabetes mellitus.
Dr. Vidhya firmly believes in giving back to the society. A trustee of Dr. M.V. Rajagopalan Memorial Trust, she has been conducting several free medical camps throughout the year since the inauguration of the Centre.
